Cocker's History !

The English Cocker Spaniel originates from Spain: the word Spaniel comes from Hispania, the former word for Spain. It was introduced to the British Isles in the 1600’s where it was crossed with many of the local Spaniel breeds. During the mid 1900’s the English Cocker Spaniel was the #1 dog in Britain. As breeding internationally flourished, the breeders, in order to differentiate between “common” stock and pure English stock named this pure English breed The English Cocker Spaniel.
The English Cocker Spaniel with its happy, willing and obedient nature makes a wonderful companion. With its ever wagging tail its favorite place to be is with its master. It loves to hunt , retrieve, as well as romp in the water. It is an energetic breed that requires regular daily exercise.
The English Cocker Spaniel has a coat of flat, silky hair with colorings of solid black, blue and red, which can be coupled with white markings. It does shed and requires a good weekly grooming. This breed with its well balanced disposition and long graceful ears weighs 25-35 pounds and reaches a height of 15-17 inches.
